LENTEN REFLECTION
THE PASSION OF CHRIST
My Dear Parishioners and Friends of Our Lady,
On Tuesday, February 22nd at 7:30 PM in Celebration Hall, Dr. Gerard J. Stanley Sr., M.D., will present a program on Jesus’ Crucifixion. His presentation will give you a deeper understanding of the mental and physical anguish Jesus endured for us in the hours leading to His death. What were the extreme emotions Jesus experienced in the Agony in the Garden? What did the beatings Jesus endured do to His body? What does it mean physically to be crucified?
Dr. Stanley is an outstanding speaker. Please join us for an hour of inspirational reflection as we are about to begin the Lenten season. Dr. Stanley is very dedicated to his “mission” to evangelize his audiences from a medical doctor’s view of Christ’s Passion. Dr. Stanley and his wife Midge are former parishioners of mine. A free will offering will be taken up to assist the Stanley’s with their travel expenses from Iowa.
Please invite your family and friends, neighbors and anyone else you may feel might benefit from this experience. We are honored in Dr. Stanley’s willingness to travel from Iowa to give this thought provoking presentation in our parish.
Dr. Stanley is also the author of, “He Was Crucified - Reflections on the Passion of Christ”. Paired with Dr. Stanley’s insightful commentary are art masterpieces as well as prayers, scripture and poetry to enrich your meditation of Jesus’ Passion. You will have the opportunity to order his book if you so desire. His book was nominated in 2010, as a top five finalist in the Inspiration and Gift Category of the EPCA.
I look forward to seeing you on February 22nd and once again I invite you to begin your preparation for our Lenten Season by attending this special presentation.
Yours in Christ,
Fr. Harry McAlpine
